“In a sense everything is realistic. I see no line between the imaginary and the real.
I see much reality in the imagination.” Federico Fellini
I am interested in the tiny threads that make up a good story, when the division made between fact and fiction is no longer the issue. In a sense, my work is borrowing from a storytelling tradition instead of words, intonation, and descriptions carving out a scenario for the listener; I am using color, materials, and associations made between objects. My recent body of work is directly influenced by my experience in the tropics of South Florida where the vegetation is the dominant personality bursting through dormant parking lots and where herds of Ibis blocking traffic. I am comforted by this shared world and alerted by my own viral footprint. Largely influenced by oral traditions such as urban myths, folklore, gossip, and news headlines, this body of work collages narratives found from within the environment and the remnants left behind by humans, at the border between the familiar and the estranged.
