About the Artist:...
Jess Hannar
I was born in 1977 and grew up in East Anglia in the UK. In 1999 I graduated from Kings College London with a degree in Philosophy. I started drawing while convalescing from a serious illness lasting most of my 20s. For several months, at my most severely ill, I was unable to even hold a pen to write my name.
I'm now particularly interested in drawing from everyday life: found objects, architectural details etc. I'm also increasingly interested in illustration.
I'm currently working on several projects including commissioned artwork for the music industry.
Doreen Hope Horn
Doreen Hope Horn is a local favorite. She completed her master’s degree from USF in Studio art and writing. Doreen creates work with very thoughtful intention.
Dan Lasata
Born in 1978, I am a self taught artist. At the age of ten I painted my first skateboard graphic. I grew up splitting time between Hartford, CT and Laconia, NH. During the summers in Hartford, I was exposed to not only skateboarding but graffiti as well. Over time I have developed my own style using acrylic, spray paint, and paint pen. My work is mostly inspired by personal experiences and emotions.
Dan is an emerging talent that has undeniable potential. He is a rising local art star.
Daniel Mrgan
Daniel Mrgan is a 31-year-old Croatian-born graphic designer and illustrator residing in St. Petersburg, Florida. His work and influences can best be described as one small, weathered building on the edge of town with creaky wood floors and a broken elevator, occupied by tenants such as silent cinema, East-European stop-motion animation, folk art, melancholy, and music – all sitting around, drinking tea, eating soft boiled eggs, and watching Olympic games and vintage cartoons all night long. Daniel would like to thank you for stopping by, and he hopes you didn't mind taking the stairs.
Austin Nelson
In my photographic work I am generally interested in capturing the overlooked and/or accidental beauty of familiar objects and environments.
Austin Nelson is a photographer and musician from Charleston, SC. He earned his Bachelor's degree in Professional Music from Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. He is currently a freelance and fine art photographer and is working on a book of his photography. He will be starting the masters in photography program at Pratt Summer 2010.
Kim Radatz
Kim Radatz holds a master’s Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL, where she specialized in sculpture. After graduation, she taught at both the University of Miami and Florida International University before moving to the Tampa Bay area in 1998. Since then she has been a full-time studio artist.
Radatz is a founding member of BRAVA, a Tampa Bay area artists’ collective, has served on the Board of Gala Corina, is currently chair of The Artist Advisory Committee, and serving on the Board of the Arts Council of Hillsborough County. In 2006, Radatz was awarded Best of Show in the prestigious Raymond James Gasparilla Festival of the Arts.
Mara Rivet
Upon completion of a three and a half year personal trans-continental exploration subsisting on the sale and trade of my work, I attended the University of Washington studying art history, graphic design and printmaking. Since college I have been deeply affected by my son's diagnosis on the autism spectrum disorder.
Artist Statement:
Current reflections reference my life, emotional travails of the heart and a constant fascination for the world around me. Through the use of collage, a combination of printmaking, drawing and sewing I visualize thoughts and progressions related to my current existence, attempting to communicate an internal dialogue as yet unspoken.
Frank Strunk III
Frank Strunk III is an accomplished sculptor. He has a playful sprit when approaching work. His pieces can range from deep contemplative textural patterns to unpredictable kinetic flirtations.
Ashley Zapach
Currently resides in Seattle, WA. She graduated with a fine arts degree from VCU in 2005, where she worked with both printmaking and textiles.
