I have a lifetime addiction to water. I always get excited about, as an artist, or just as a spiritual, meditative person. In my latest years in Florida as an experienced sailor, fisherman and snorkeler water gave me much more than just enjoyment or relaxation; I've been forced to read the water and learned to communicate with it. It's texture, color, scent, touch help me decide about many things; when, where and how to tack or speed up the boat, where can I find a fish and what I'll have for dinner.

In this new infrared photo based series of works I try to express in a special way how do I see water, and water related objects, especially bridges, this two symbolic essentials of my life.

Laszlo Horvath was born 1950 in Hungary as the only child of an artistic family. During his  childhood Horvath studied violin and attended drawing and painting classes, winning several awards in youth music and art competitions.

Although he later graduated from the Institute of Economy, Horvath chose to focus on his love of art and music. He became a self-taught photographer and discovered his true passion. Horvath won the first photo competition he entered, leading him to a position as a photojournalist at the local newspaper. After several years he felt burned out, left his position and tried to stand up as a freelancer. He started focusing on experimental photography in a budding avantguard group, but soon fled to Austria, living in a refugee camp for a year. In 1984 he immigrated to the United States and continued his artistic endeavors. He participates numerous exhibits every year, won awards and grants, represented by a prestigious online gallery as a member of Paula Ysom Group, and several collections include his works.

Horvath images are distinctively stark, focused and haunting.  The recent dark and surrealistic works are reflective of a rough life as an artist in a communism and his struggles to re-invent himself in America.

Horvath maintains his multipurpose studio space in a refurbished cigar factory in West Tampa. He says he lives merely thorough his music and images.
