Observations on the Feeling of the Beautiful and the Sublime  January 14 - March 25, 2011

In Immanuel Kant's 1764 first piece of aesthetic literature, the concept of the feeling of the beautiful and sublime are examined.  He stated that these feelings of enjoyment are subjective.

In creating art, the idea of beauty and sublimity as well become subjective. Each artist responds to this question posed long ago by the German philosopher.

Their responses can be surprising, humorous, of course beautiful and sublime.

"The sublime moves, the beautiful charms." Immanuel Kant

This is a multi media exhibition including, drawing, painting, photography, printmaking, mixed media, sculpture, and wood burning.
