Jeff Whipple has had 75 solo exhibitions and his plays have been in 19 productions. He has won dozens of top awards in art and playwriting competitions.
His play “Spokesperson” was produced in Chicago last year and his comedy, “Couch Potatoes of the 22nd Century” was produced in April in Orlando.
He has received two arts council artist fellowships from Illinois and three from Florida. One of the Florida fellowships was for Playwriting. In 2001, he was the first recipient of the annual Fulton Ross Award, a $10,000 grant based on career achievements.
His public artworks include a 75-foot wide video installation for the Tampa Museum of Art, a 300-foot long mural for the City of Tampa and a 150-foot long mural for the Johnson Library in St. Petersburg.
Whipple has taught at several colleges including Arizona State University, Northern Illinois University, the Ringling College of Art and the University of Tampa.
Jeff Whipple lives in Tallahassee with his partner, the artist Chalet Comellas.
